ITRI Board Meeting - September 21, 2011

The newly appointed ISYS Department Chair, Dr. Rajiv Sabherwal, welcomed all in attendance and gave the ISYS department update. As in the past, Dr. Paul Cronan delivered the Masters of Information Systems update. Since Project Management has been at the forefront of the Top Ten Priorities List for the past several years, a portion of the board meeting was dedicated to this topic. Dr. Paul Cronan and Michael Guidry from Tyson Foods, Inc. presented how Project Management is being conveyed through Dr. Cronan’s class. On the industry side of things, Stacy Jaycox from Tyson Foods, Inc discussed Tyson’s Project Management case study. Eric Bradford updated the board members on the activities of the ITRI since the previous board meeting.
Board members recently expressed that they would also like to hear the current activities of the engineering side of Information Technology. So, Susan Gauch, the CSCE Department Chair, presented an Engineering Department update to the board members. Board members in attendance also were given a tour of the Business Behavioral Lab located on the first floor of the J.B. Hunt building. The meeting concluded with the IT Executive Forum, where students were able to ask IT related questions directed towards the board members.
An executive committee was formed during this meeting to continue to foster the great relationship between the ITRI and its board members that Dr. Bill Hardgrave began. This sub-committee of the board members provides input to faculty to insure that the ITRI is heading in the desired direction of the board members. Members of the committee include:
