Arkansas & Northeastern Oklahoma Affiliate
2011 -2012 CompetitionAs part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose a career in technology, The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) seeks to recognize high school women with outstanding achievements and aspirations in computing and technology through the Award for Aspirations in Computing.
With the guidance from NCWIT, we are currently accepting applications for our second regional award that included the state of Arkansas and Northeastern Oklahoma. Below are some important dates related to the competition.
The award recognized outstanding young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. An awards reception will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Seminar Room 203 of Willard J. Walker Hall on campus of the University of Arkansas as part of day one of our two day Women in Information Technology Conference. By generating visibility for these young women, the award encouraged continued interest in computing, increased awareness of the gender gap in computing and IT, and emphasized at a personal level the importance of women's participation in computing.
